Re: Prompts based on BEx hierarchy node variables - Hierarchy Text Nodes are displayed with Short-Text

Hi Seshu.P,

I have already set in BW for the characteristic (on which a hierarchy containing text nodes is created and used in the bex prompt) in the Business Explorer tab the Text Type setting to Long Text.

In the BEx Query in the property settings of this characteristic I also use the Display property as Text - Long Text (or just the "Use Characteristic Setting" option).

The characteristics values appear as long text in the bex prompt in webi, but the text nodes in this same hierarchy are displayed with their short text.

Hierarchy example:

LEVEL 1: CHARACTERISTIC - text is displayed as long text in the webi bex prompt

LEVEL 2: CHARACTERISTIC - text is displayed as long text in the webi bex prompt

LEVEL 3: TEXT NODE - text is displayed as short text in the webi bex prompt

LEVEL 4: CHARACTERISTIC - text is displayed as long text in the webi bex prompt

I was wondering, whether anyone can reproduce the same behaviour and thus see whether this is by design and a limitation or is there maybe a patch for this that solves this problem?

The thread you suggested is talking about a work around when using universes. I can't use universes, I use BICS only.

I have found a note (1829047 - Web Intelligence: Prompt values for BEx query variable don't display long text characteristics) which is probably something similar, but I don't have an overall problem, I have this problem only with the text nodes.

It would be great if anyone could try to reproduce this issue whether you are able to see the full medium-length text or long text instead of the short text for text nodes too and post the SP and patch level here, that would be helpful.

Thanks!

Regards

David
